Darel grew up on a farm in central
Alberta. Having always enjoyed competing in sports, Darel played hockey,
volleyball and fastball as well as competing in track and field events and
cross-country running. As an adult, Darel has completed 4 Marathons and several
Half-Marathons and Olympic distance triathlons.
Community service has always been important
and currently Darel is an active Rotarian and a St. Albert Chamber of Commerce Director.Past President of his local Toastmaster Club and a former
member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS). Along with his wife Kelly, Darel volunteers
for many of his two daughters’ activities.
Career Highlights
With over 20 years in the workforce in the
areas of construction, health and fitness, Community College, Municipal
Government, Non-Profit sector and most recently Financial Services, Darel
brings a well rounded background to the Leadership arena.
Darel has led management teams and other high
performing teams with a number of companies and organizations. His roles
have included Chairing Community Fundraisers, being a Director for various
Boards and Committees, General Manager of a Golf Course and large recreation
complex and Regional Director for one of Canada’s leading financial
institutions. Darel has had the opportunity to work with an incredibly
diverse range of personalities and talents. Successful recruiting, hiring
and training have been a key to success throughout his career.
